Start at the parking area at the trailhead for the Valley Forge Trail at Eaton Saddle.

Follow the trail down to the junction with the Gabrieleno Trail.

Turn left (westerly) to get to follow the Gabrieleno Trail to Valley Forge Campground or Red Box.

Turn right (easterly) to follow the Gabrieleno trail toward the Kenyon-Devore Trail or West Fork Campground.
