The trailhead is accessed from the parking along Angeles Crest Highway east of Switzer Picnic Area.

Route Instructions: From the parking area at Angeles Crest Highway follow the South Colby Canyon Trail up to Josephine Saddle. From the saddle, follow the Josephine Saddle Trail east to where it meets with Upper Josephine Peak Road and take that up to the peak. Return to Josephine Saddle and follow the North Colby Canyon Trail around Strawberry Peak to the Strawberry Meadow/Potrero area. Walk down around a mile to the bottom of the meadow. There is an obviously marked junction with a trail leading down toward Colby Ranch. Return to Josephine Saddle and follow the South Colby Canyon Trail back down to the trailhead.
