Location: Chilao Google Map: Angeles Crest Highway between Charlton Flats and Newcomb’s Ranch

Parking: Parking may require a National Forest Adventure Pass

Note: Chilao is typically closed from November to April.

View toward parking area at T1 trailhead of the Silver Moccasin Trail.

Hikes:

  1. Chilao to Horse Flats: 2.2 miles, 460′ of gain and loss
  2. Chilao to Bandito Campground: 3.0 miles, 685′ of gain and loss.
  3. Chilao Flats to Mt. Hillyer Lollipop: 4.8 miles, 1,025′ of gain and loss.
  4. Chilao to Mt. Hillyer: 5.2 miles, 1015′ of gain and loss.
