Trail Segments: From Eaton Saddle, follow the road through Mueller Tunnel to Markham Saddle. At Markham Saddle, there are three trails. Take the Lower Mt. Lowe Trail past the JCT to Mt. Markham to the JCT of the Upper East Mt. Lowe Trail. At the signed junction, turn right and take the Upper East Mt. Lowe Trail past the JCT with the Upper Sam Merrill Trail to Mt. Lowe. Descend Mt. Lowe and take the Upper Sam Merrill Trail down the junction with West Mt. Lowe Ridge and follow the hiker’s trail down to Mt. Lowe Road. From Mt. Lowe Road, head west until you reach the junction with the Tom Sloane Saddle Trail and follow that down to the saddle. At the saddle, there are three ways to proceed. Follow the Brown Mountain Hiker’s Trail up over two false summits to Brown Mountain. Retrace your steps to Mt. Lowe Road and follow that back to Eaton Saddle.
